What to expect from the first session?

At the beginning of your first counselling session, we will engage in the informed consent process which outlines confidentiality and provides information about the counselling relationship and the practice’s policies. You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

You will then be invited to share about the challenges you have been facing and your goals for seeking counselling. Your sharing will be met with empathy, validation and care.

Hi, I'm Laura

I earned my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University. I have had the privilege of working with clients of all ages with a broad range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, anger, insomnia, abuse, relationship issues and clients with borderline personality disorder. You are the Navigator

The quality of the counselling relationship is very important and highly prioritized.

You are the navigator of your life. Upon your brave invitation to accept support through counselling, I will come alongside you as a compassionate and non-judgmental passenger. As the person at the helm, you will have the opportunity to choose your destination and together, we can determine the route that will serve you best. As such, you will establish your goals and we will collaboratively create a plan to accomplish them. As we begin to move forward, you will have the freedom to decide when to slow down, speed up, or anchor down and dig deep. You already have strengths that will be helpful in reaching your goals which we will utilize and build upon.
